Cody Scarf Slide

Picture
Here is the story about this unique scarf slide.  Back in May I was in Wyoming and while passing by Cody Lake I stopped to take some photos.  I was walking around the edge of the lake and found this vertebra from some animal on lying on the shore.  It was pretty well bleached out and dry.  I place it in my "finds" and brought it home.  I re-bleached it out and dried it well, "de-horned" the sharp edges.  It was then painted with traditional Sioux colors and a unique pattern.  It now is a wonderful one of a king scarf slide!  $35.00 + S&H

Woman's Knife #1

Picture
Woman's Knife??  Yes...why it is called this is because it is a very traditional knife and sheath as carried by the Plains Indians women of the late 1800's. The horse tribes and the buffalo culture's used these knives for many uses around the encampment from skinning, cutting up food, to protection.  The influence of traders can be clearly seen in the knife, beads and brass cone decorations. Although this knife and sheath have some "modern" day upgrades, it is very traditional in design and craft.  The knife is a antique Ontario Knife I located in a private sale.  It has been used and kept in very good condition and still has the years and years of desired patina as wanted by folks seeking an authentic period knife.  The handle was decorated with brass tacks of which some were missing and mis-matched so I replaced them with original period correct tacks. I did not change the pattern from the original placement so it still retains the look from the period.  The knife is 10" overall and has a 6" blade.

The sheath is Oiled cowhide over an inner liner of top grain leather.  It is hand stitched with heavy waxed imitation sinew, and real buckskin lacing. It has a rolled top for wear-ability and ease to sheath.   The decorations on the sewn in fringe are period correct brass cones (that have been oxidized), glass white heart beads, and brass French fluted beads.  It has the single belt over loop which is the common way this design was created, and can be carried right or left.

This is truly a one of a kind and I promise you will not be disappointed in the quality and construction.
